How to use Peppermint Oil

You can apply the oil topically by first diluting two drops with one teaspoonful of your preferred carrier oil. Then massage on the affected area to get a soothing relief. Repeat twice or thrice daily.

You can add a few drops to a bathtub filled with warm water. Soak yourself in the water for 30 minutes.

How to use Essential oils for skin rashes

Dilute 4-5 drops of essential oils with one teaspoonful of your preferred carrier oil. If you are trying an oil for the first time, I suggest you perform a skin patch test to determine its suitability with your skin.

For Bath: Add a few drops of essential oils to your filled bathtub and soak yourself for 30 minutes. You will get significant relief from itches, and you will get out filling refreshed and reinvigorated.

Hot or Cold Compress: Soak a piece of clothing in warm or cold water, wring out and add a few drops of essential oils on it. Compress on the affected area for about 10 minutes.

Steaming/inhalation: This works best for rashes in the face. Add 4-5 drops of essential oil to a bowl containing hot water. Hold your head above the bowl, close your eyes, and let the steam hit your face. You can cover your head with a towel.

Diffusing: Alternatively, you can use essential oils with your diffuser to repel insects.

Spray: For face or body spray, mix 30-40 drops of essential oils with 100ml of water and pour in a sprayer bottle. For your room, mix 60 drops with 100ml of water.

Essential Oils for skin rash in children: Because of their sensitive skin, never rub undiluted oils on children?s body. Mix a few drops of Lavender or Chamomile Oil with fractionated coconut oil.

Essential Oils for skin allergic reaction: For this, you will need three drops each of lavender and peppermint oil, mixed with one ounce of almond or fractionated coconut oil. Apply gently on the affected area.


  • Do not use essential oils raw. They are usually very potent and can cause skin irritation. Diluting with carrier oils will minimize irritation and will not reduce their therapeutic effects.
  • Ensure that you dilute essential oils sufficiently before using for children.
  • Most essential oils are unsafe for use during pregnancy.

  • Mix the ingredients and store in an 8oz glass bottle. Shake well before use, and apply using a cotton ball.

Recipe 2 ? anti-itch blend

  • 2 ounces of witch hazel (as carrier oil)
  • 5 drops of lavender oil
  • 2 drops of frankincense oil
  • Blend the ingredients and store in a dark bottle. Shake well before applying.
